The Han River is without feeling,
the waters of Shu run clear;
the Yellow River rolls and surges,
and smoke and dust rise on every side.

The muddy are muddy of themselves, the clear are clear of themselves; we must keep ourselves clean and good to live in a chaotic, treacherous age.
