The tree grows in spring, its roots and trunk grown old,
it fruits in autumn's depth, while boughs and leaves decay;
until it withers and lets fall,
you cannot see how firm its roots are set.
Interpretation
Only after passing through setbacks and tempering does one's life-force grow all the stronger.
